Typical April showers predominated this month, with alternating spells of sunny days and cloudier conditions. The peak high for the month came on 16 April, with a maximum temperature of 18.9c, but this was nowhere near the impressive 21.4c we clocked up at the same time last year. In fact we had only 10 days when the thermometer went above 15.0c, which is the threshold when things normally start to feel a bit warmer. All too often there was too much east in the wind to make it feel really spring-like. A noisy storm rattled through overnight mid-month bringing down a few tree branches. Generally nights were rather cold, never getting out of single figures all month.
